父が消えた (Chichi ga Kieta)

Katsuhiko Otsuji was the literary pseudonym of Japanese artist and writer Katsuhiko Akasegawa (1937-2014), used for his fiction writing. He gained prominence with his Akutagawa Prize-winning short story "Chichi ga kieta" (Father Disappeared) in 1981 and also received the Chūōkōron New Writer's Prize in 1979 for "Hadazawari" (Skin Texture), with other notable works including "Yuki no" and contributions to collections like I Guess All We Have Is Freedom. Known for fiction, essays, and humorous manga-style writing, Otsuji showcased a preoccupation with reality, materiality, and stream-of-consciousness narratives.
