Chato and the Party Animals (Illustrator)

Susan Marie Guevara is an American illustrator and sculptor best known for her picture book illustrations, including the Chato series by Gary Soto. She earned a BFA from the Academy of Art College in San Francisco and studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Art in Belgium, and has illustrated over 20 children's books since 1990. A two-time winner of the Pura Belpré Award for Illustration for Chato's Kitchen (1996) and Chato and the Party Animals (2002), she was born in Walnut Creek, California, and lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
