Cécile de la Folie

Marc Chadourne (1895-1975) was a French writer renowned for his novels and travelogues, winning the Prix Femina in 1930 for Cécile de la Folie and the Grand Prix de littérature of the Académie française in 1950 for his body of work. Notable works include Vasco (1927, Prix Paul Flat), Anahuac ou l'Indien sans ses plumes (1934), and Quand Dieu se fit Américain (1950), a biography of Joseph Smith. He served in colonial administration in Oceania and Cameroon, taught in the US during WWII, and translated Joseph Conrad.
