About the Author

Félix de Chazournes (1887–1940) was a French novelist born in Lyon as Félix Boisson, the eldest of twelve children, who worked in import-export across England, Morocco, China, South America, and the West Indies before turning to writing in the 1930s. His novels, published by Gallimard, include Les Boucles (1908), Jason: Portrait des Tropiques (1935), Caroline ou le Départ pour les îles (1938), Agnès ou le Rivage de Bohème (1940), and the posthumous Ophélia ou l'Anglaise de la colline (1946); he won the prestigious Prix Femina in 1938 for Caroline ou le Départ pour les îles.
