About the Author

André Aciman (born 2 January 1951) is an Italian-American writer born and raised in Alexandria, Egypt, to Sephardic Jewish parents of Turkish and Italian origin. He is a distinguished professor at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, teaching literary theory and Marcel Proust, with previous positions at NYU, Princeton, and Bard College. Best known for his novel Call Me by Your Name (2007), adapted into an Oscar-nominated film, he also authored the memoir Out of Egypt (1995) and received awards including the Whiting Award and Lambda Literary Award.
