豚の報い (Buta no Mukui)

Eiki Matayoshi (born July 15, 1947) is a Japanese novelist from Okinawa, renowned for his works set in the Okinawa archipelago exploring local culture, history, and human experiences. He gained national prominence by winning the prestigious Akutagawa Prize in 1995 for his novel Buta no mukui (The Pig's Retribution), along with earlier awards like the 1980 Subaru Literary Award for Ginnemu Yashiki. His notable works include Jōji ga shasatsu shita inoshishi (The Wild Boar that George Shot), inspired by a real US occupation incident, and he is considered one of Okinawa's most important contemporary writers.
