Hilary Spurling (born 25 December 1940) is a British biographer and journalist renowned for her acclaimed works including the two-volume biography of Henri Matisse (The Unknown Matisse and Matisse the Master), Burying the Bones: Pearl Buck in China, and Ivy: The Life of I. Compton-Burnett.
