Nikki Grimes (born October 20, 1950, in Harlem, New York) is an acclaimed American author, poet, and illustrator known for her books for children and young adults, including the Coretta Scott King Award-winning Bronx Masquerade (2002), the memoir Ordinary Hazards (Printz and Sibert Honors), and New York Times bestseller Barack Obama: Son of Promise, Child of Hope.
