Bones and Silence

Reginald Charles Hill (1936–2012) was an English crime writer best known for his Dalziel and Pascoe series featuring the Yorkshire detectives Superintendent Andrew Dalziel and Peter Pascoe, which began with A Clubbable Woman in 1970 and spanned over 20 novels, later adapted into a BBC television series. Born in West Hartlepool, England, he studied English at Oxford, worked as a teacher and lecturer before becoming a full-time writer in 1980, and won the Crime Writers' Association Cartier Diamond Dagger for Lifetime Achievement in 1995. He also authored the Joe Sixsmith series and wrote numerous other novels under pseudonyms such as Patrick Ruell.
