Black Zodiac

Charles Wright (born August 25, 1935) is an American poet renowned for his meditative, image-rich lyrics exploring nature, memory, time, and spirituality. Among his most notable works are Country Music: Selected Early Poems (1983 National Book Award), Black Zodiac (1998 Pulitzer Prize), Chickamauga (1996 Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize), and Scar Tissue (2007 Griffin Poetry Prize); he served as U.S. Poet Laureate (2014-2015) and received lifetime honors like the Ruth Lilly (1993) and Bollingen (2013) Prizes.
