美談の出発 (Bidan no Shuppatsu)

Akira Kawamura (1927-1996) was a Japanese novelist born in Chiayi, Taiwan, during the Japanese colonial period and raised in Numazu, Shizuoka Prefecture. He gained prominence by winning the prestigious 47th Akutagawa Prize in 1962 for his work Departure of a Bedtime Story (Bidan no Shuppatsu or Mitdan no Shuppatsu), one of Japan's most esteemed literary awards for emerging writers, and authored notable books including Run Pro, Young Ruins, and historical narratives like Miyamoto Musashi: Following the Stories and Historical Sites.
