Sheri Stewart Tepper (born Shirley Stewart Douglas, July 16, 1929) was an American author best known for her feminist science fiction novels exploring ecology, gender equality, theology, and injustice, such as Grass (1989), The Gate to Women's Country (1988), and Beauty (1991, Locus Award winner). Before her prolific writing career starting in the mid-1980s with over 30 novels, she worked as executive director of Rocky Mountain Planned Parenthood and published poetry and children's stories under Sheri S.
