Geraldine Mary Jay, who wrote under the pseudonym Charlotte Jay, was an Australian mystery author born on December 17, 1919, in Adelaide, South Australia, and died on October 27, 1996, in Adelaide. She gained international acclaim for her thrillers set in exotic locales, most notably winning the inaugural Edgar Award for Best Novel in 1954 for Beat Not the Bones. Other notable works include The Knife Is Feminine (1951) and The Fugitive Eye (1953, adapted for TV).
