Carlos RojasSpanish
Carlos Rojas Vila (1928-2020) was a prolific Spanish novelist, essayist, and academic, best known for his fictionalized biographies and novels exploring Spanish history, particularly the Civil War and its figures. Among his most notable works are Azaña (1973), Auto de Fe (1968), and El ingenioso hidalgo y poeta Federico García Lorca asciende a los infiernos (1979); he received major awards including the Premio Planeta (1973), Premio Nadal (1979), and Premio Nacional de Literatura (1968). He taught Spanish literature at Emory University for over three decades until 1996.
