About the Author

Ronald Harold Hardy (1919–1991) was an English novelist and screenwriter who qualified as a Certified Public Accountant before turning to writing. His debut novel, The Place of Jackals (1954), drew from his World War II experiences in Indochina and received acclaim, being hailed as establishing him as Graham Greene's top disciple by Time magazine. He won the 1962 James Tait Black Memorial Prize for Act of Destruction and authored nine fiction works plus the non-fiction The Iron Snake, while also writing for TV series like Suspense and Armchair Theatre.
