Edward Osmond (1900–1981) was an English author and illustrator of children's books, best known for his 1953 work A Valley Grows Up, which earned him the prestigious Carnegie Medal in 1954—one of the few nonfiction books to receive the award. Born in Orford, Suffolk, he began as an illustrator in the 1920s before transitioning to writing and illustrating his own animal series and historical books for children in the 1950s and 1960s.
