Marta Portal Nicolás (1930-2016) was a Spanish writer, literary critic, journalist, and professor associated with the Generation of '50, best known for her novel A tientas y a ciegas (1966), which won the prestigious Premio Planeta, and for exploring themes of women's education and double moral standards in her fiction. She also authored essays on Latin American literature, such as El maíz: grano sagrado de América (1970), taught Hispanic American literature at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and received awards including the Premio Adelaida Ristori (1975) and Premio de las Letras de Asturias (2007).
