About the Author

Tope FolarinNigerian-American

Tope Folarin (born 1981) is a Nigerian-American writer born in Ogden, Utah, to Nigerian immigrant parents, who grew up in Texas after moving there at age 14. He studied at Morehouse College (BA 2004) and Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar (two M.Sc. degrees, 2006), and his debut novel A Particular Kind of Black Man was published in 2019; he won the 2013 Caine Prize for his short story "Miracle" (first non-Africa-based winner) and the 2021 Whiting Award for Fiction.
