Dennis Nurkse (born December 13, 1949) is an American poet from Brooklyn, New York, son of Estonian economist Ragnar Nurkse. He is the author of twelve poetry collections published by Knopf and others, with work appearing in The New Yorker, The Paris Review, and Best American Poetry anthologies. His honors include Guggenheim and NEA fellowships, a Whiting Award, Pushcart Prizes, Brooklyn Poet Laureate (1996-2000), and a Literature Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
