A Guest of Honour

Nadine Gordimer (1923-2014) was a South African writer and political activist renowned for her novels exploring moral and racial issues under apartheid. She achieved international acclaim with her Booker Prize-winning novel The Conservationist (1974) and received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1991 for her epic writing beneficial to humanity. Her works, including Burger's Daughter and July's People, were frequently banned by the apartheid regime.
