About Yxta Maya Murray

Yxta Maya Murray (born 1970) is an American Latina novelist, short story writer, and professor of law at Loyola Marymount University School of Law. She graduated cum laude from UCLA and earned her JD with distinction from Stanford Law School, later joining the Loyola faculty in 1995. Her debut novel Locas earned the 1999 Whiting Writers' Award, and she has authored numerous other books while receiving accolades including a 2024-2025 Harvard Radcliffe Fellowship and publications in The Best American Short Stories 2021.
