About Yukiko Katō
Yukiko Katō (加藤幸子) was a Japanese novelist born in 1936 in Sapporo, Japan, who spent part of her childhood in Beijing and later graduated from Hokkaido University with an agriculture degree before working in forestry and conservation. Enchanted Lion Books. She debuted in 1981, winning the Shincho Prize for New Writers and the Akutagawa Prize in 1982 for Nogaki no ita Mura and Yume no Kabe, respectively, with themes exploring human-nature relationships and wartime experiences. A wild bird enthusiast and society member, she received further awards like the Geijutsu Senshō and Daily Art Prize, and passed away in 2024.
