Yasushi Inoue

Yasushi Inoue (1907-1991) was a Japanese writer of novels, short stories, poetry, and essays, best known for his historical and autobiographical fiction including The Bullfight, The Roof Tile of Tempyō, Tun-huang, and The Hunting Gun. Born in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, and raised in Shizuoka Prefecture, he studied philosophy at Kyoto Imperial University, worked as a journalist for the Mainichi Shimbun, and gained acclaim after winning the Akutagawa Prize in 1950 for The Bullfight.
