About Yang Yi
Yang Yi (pen name of Liu Qiao, born June 18, 1964, in Harbin, China) is a Chinese novelist who has lived in Japan since 1987. She won the prestigious 139th Akutagawa Prize in 2008 for her Japanese-language novel Tokiga nijimu asa (A Morning When Time Blurs), becoming the only Chinese national and one of only two non-native Japanese speakers to receive the award.
