About William Taubman

William Chase Taubman (born 1941) is an American political scientist and Bertrand Snell Professor Emeritus of Political Science at Amherst College. He is renowned for his Pulitzer Prize-winning biography Khrushchev: The Man and His Era (2004) and other notable works like Gorbachev: His Life and Times (2017) and the forthcoming McNamara at War (2025, co-authored with Philip Taubman). His career highlights include a Ph.D. from Columbia University and extensive research on Soviet leaders and history.
