William H. Goetzmann

William Harry Goetzmann (1930–2010) was an American historian born in Washington, D.C. and raised in the Midwest, who earned his BA and PhD from Yale University, taught there from 1955 to 1964, and later became emeritus professor and Jack S. Blanton Sr. Chair in History and American Studies at the University of Texas at Austin.
