About Verner von Heidenstam

Carl Gustaf Verner von Heidenstam (1859–1940) was a Swedish poet and novelist who led the reaction against naturalism in Swedish literature, advocating for fantasy, beauty, and national themes in works inspired by his travels and Swedish history. His notable publications include the poetry collection Vallfart och vandringsår (1888) and historical novels Karolinerna (1897–98; The Charles Men) and Folkungaträdet (1905–07; The Tree of the Folkungs).
