About V. S. Naipaul
V. S. Naipaul was a Trinidad and Tobago-born British writer of Indian descent, born in 1932 and deceased in 2018. Renowned for his novels exploring postcolonial alienation and travel chronicles, his breakthrough work A House for Mr Biswas (1961) earned major recognition, followed by the Booker Prize for In a Free State (1971). He received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2001 for uniting perceptive narrative with scrutiny of suppressed histories.
