About Ugo Riccarelli

Ugo Riccarelli (1954–2013) was an Italian novelist and short story writer born in Cirié near Turin to parents of Tuscan origin. He studied philosophy at the University of Turin, worked in libraries and public offices in Cirié and Pisa, underwent a pioneering heart-lung transplant in 1990, and later moved to Rome where he served in the city's cultural administration. His notable works include Le scarpe appese al cuore (1995), Un uomo che forse si chiamava Schulz (1998, Campiello Prize), and Il dolore perfetto (2004, Strega Prize).
