About Trina Schart Hyman

Trina Schart Hyman (1939–2004) was an American illustrator of over 150 children's books, renowned for her intricate depictions of fairy tales and Arthurian legends. Born in Philadelphia and educated at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and Konstfackskolan in Sweden, she began her career illustrating her first book in Stockholm in 1961 and later served as art director for Cricket magazine. She won the 1985 Caldecott Medal for Saint George and the Dragon, along with three Caldecott Honors and other awards for works like Little Red Riding Hood and Hershel and the Hanukkah Goblins.
