About Tove Jansson
Tove Marika Jansson (1914–2001) was a Finland-Swedish author, novelist, painter, and illustrator best known for creating the Moomin series of children's books. Born in Helsinki to artistic parents, she studied art in Stockholm, Helsinki, and Paris, and gained international fame with Moomin novels like Comet in Moominland and Finn Family Moomintroll after her debut The Moomins and the Great Flood in 1945. She received the Hans Christian Andersen Medal in 1966 for her contributions to children's literature and also wrote acclaimed adult fiction such as The Summer Book.
