About Timberlake Wertenbaker

Timberlake Wertenbaker (born 1951) is a British-based playwright, translator, and screenwriter, born in New York City to American parents and raised in the Basque Country of France. She is best known for her plays including Our Country's Good (1988), which won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Play and the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award, The Love of the Nightingale (1989), and Three Birds Alighting on a Field (1991). She has held prominent positions such as resident writer at the Royal Court Theatre and Chair in Playwriting at the University of East Anglia, and lives in London.
