Tim Weiner (born June 20, 1956) is an American reporter and author known for his books on U.S. intelligence agencies, including the Pulitzer Prize-winning series behind Blank Check: The Pentagon's Black Budget (1990), National Book Award winner Legacy of Ashes: The History of the CIA (2007), Enemies: A History of the FBI (2012), and The Mission: The CIA in the 21st Century (2025).com. He worked as a Washington correspondent for The Philadelphia Inquirer (1982-1992), winning the 1988 Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting, and as a national security correspondent for The New York Times (1993-2009), covering wars and intelligence.
