About Thomas Harris

Thomas Harris (born 1940) is an American author best known for his suspense novels featuring the iconic cannibalistic serial killer Hannibal Lecter, including Red Dragon (1981), The Silence of the Lambs (1988), Hannibal (1999), and Hannibal Rising (2006). His debut novel Black Sunday (1975) became a bestseller and was adapted into a film. Harris began his career as a crime reporter for the Associated Press before becoming a full-time novelist, with his works profoundly influencing the thriller and horror genres; The Silence of the Lambs film swept the five major Academy Awards.
