About Teru Miyamoto

Teru Miyamoto is a Japanese author born on March 6, 1947, in Kobe, Hyōgo Prefecture. He debuted with Doro no Kawa (Mud River) in 1977, winning the Dazai Osamu Prize, followed by the Akutagawa Prize in 1978 for Hotarugawa (Firefly River), and later the Yoshikawa Eiji Prize for Yu-Shun. His works, often depicting postwar working-class life in Osaka with lyrical explorations of fate, life, and death, have been adapted into acclaimed films including Muddy River and Maborosi, and translated into English as Kinshu: Autumn Brocade and others. com, IMDb
