About Ted Hughes
Edward James Hughes (1930–1998) was an English poet, translator, and children's writer, born in Mytholmroyd, Yorkshire. He gained acclaim with debut collection The Hawk in the Rain (1957), became British Poet Laureate in 1984, and produced notable works like Crow (1970) and Birthday Letters (1998), often exploring nature, myth, and personal turmoil including his marriage to Sylvia Plath.
