About T. S. Stribling
Thomas Sigismund Stribling (1881-1965) was an American author born in Clifton, Tennessee. He began his career writing adventure stories and pulp detective fiction featuring Dr. Poggioli, before achieving acclaim for social satire novels set in the South, most notably the Vaiden trilogy: The Forge (1931), The Store (1932, Pulitzer Prize winner), and The Unfinished Cathedral (1934). His works critiqued post-Reconstruction Southern society, race relations, and class issues, with several adapted into films and plays.
