About T. Kingfisher
T. Kingfisher is the pen name of American author Ursula Vernon, used for her adult fiction. She won the Locus Award for Best Fantasy Novel for A Sorceress Comes to Call (2025). Vernon/Kingfisher is also celebrated for her fairy-tale retellings and horror novellas, including the Locus Award-winning novella Thornhedge. Ursula Vernon is known for her Digger webcomic (Hugo Award winner) and her middle-grade fiction. As T. Kingfisher she has published numerous horror and dark fantasy novels including The Twisted Ones, The Hollow Places, A House With Good Bones (Hugo finalist), and What Moves the Dead. Her work blends folk horror, dark fairy tale traditions, and dry wit. She lives in North Carolina and is a prolific writer across multiple genres and age groups.
