About Susan Kay

Susan Kay (born 1952) is a British novelist who worked as a primary school teacher before leaving to raise her family. She is the author of two award-winning historical fiction novels: Legacy (1985), which chronicles the life of Queen Elizabeth I and won the Georgette Heyer Historical Novel Prize and Betty Trask Award, and Phantom (1990), a reimagining of the Phantom of the Opera that won the Romantic Novel of the Year Award. She lives in Cheshire with her husband and two children.
