Susan Campbell Bartoletti

Susan Campbell Bartoletti (born 1958) is an American author of children's literature, specializing in historical nonfiction. She began her career as an eighth-grade English teacher before becoming a full-time writer in 1997, with notable works including the Newbery Honor book Hitler Youth: Growing Up in Hitler's Shadow and the Sibert Medal-winning Black Potatoes: The Story of the Great Irish Famine, 1845-1850.
