About Steven Hahn

Steven Hahn is an American historian born in 1951 in New York City, educated at the University of Rochester and Yale University, where he earned his PhD. Pulitzer.org. He is renowned for his works on the American South, slavery, and emancipation, including the Pulitzer Prize-winning A Nation Under Our Feet: Black Political Struggles in the Rural South from Slavery to the Great Migration (2003), The Roots of Southern Populism (1983), and A Nation Without Borders (2016). EBSCO. Currently a Professor of History at New York University, he has held positions at the University of Pennsylvania and other institutions, earning numerous awards and fellowships.
