About Stephen Adly Guirgis
Stephen Adly Guirgis (born 1965) is an American playwright, screenwriter, director, and actor of Egyptian and Irish descent, born in New Jersey and raised in New York City. A key member of LAByrinth Theater Company, he is best known for his plays including the Pulitzer Prize-winning Between Riverside and Crazy (2015), Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train, The Motherfucker with the Hat, and others frequently directed by Philip Seymour Hoffman. His works have earned numerous awards such as the Whiting Award, Windham-Campbell Prize, and Tony nominations, and have been produced worldwide.
