Spencer Reece

Spencer Reece (born 1963) is an American poet and Episcopal priest, born in Hartford, Connecticut, and raised in Minneapolis. His debut collection The Clerk's Tale (2004) won the Bakeless Prize judged by Louise Glück and was adapted into a film by James Franco; later works include The Road to Emmaus (2014, National Book Award longlist) and Acts (2024). Ordained in 2011, he has served in parishes in Spain, New York, and Rhode Island, and received awards like the Whiting Award and Guggenheim Fellowship.com
