Soledad Puértolas Villanueva (born 1947 in Zaragoza, Spain) is a Spanish writer who studied journalism after political issues halted her political science studies and earned an M.A. in Spanish and Portuguese Literature from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She has authored numerous novels such as Queda la noche (1989, Premio Planeta winner) and short story collections, along with essays like La vida oculta (1993, Premio Anagrama de Ensayo).
