About Shinsuke Numata

Shinsuke Numata (沼田真佑) is a Japanese writer born in 1978 in Otaru, Hokkaido. His debut novel Eiri (2017), which explores friendship and the aftermath of the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, won the prestigious 157th Akutagawa Prize. The work was adapted into the film Beneath the Shadow in 2020 and translated into French as La Pêche au toc dans le Tôhoku.
