About Shigeko Yuki

Shigeko Yuki (born Shige Shinkai) was a Japanese writer born on December 2, 1900, in Sakai, Osaka Prefecture, Japan. She began her literary career after her 1945 separation from painter Usaburō Ihara, initially writing children's stories before transitioning to novels, winning the first postwar Akutagawa Prize in 1949 for Hon no hanashi (A Tale of Books).
