Shū Fujisawa

Shūhei Fujisawa (1927–1997), born Tomeji Kosuge, was a Japanese author renowned for his historical fiction set in Edo-period Japan, particularly stories featuring samurai and everyday lives. Before becoming a full-time writer, he worked as a high school teacher and business journalist, publishing over 50 books with more than 23 million paperbacks printed. His works have been widely adapted into films, including Yoji Yamada's The Twilight Samurai (Oscar-nominated), The Hidden Blade, and Love and Honor. He received the Naoki Prize in 1973 for Annals of Assassination and the Asahi Prize in 1994, among other honors.Shuhei Fujisawa
