About Sarah Rose Etter
Sarah Rose Etter is an American author who won the Shirley Jackson Award for Novel for The Book of X (2019), a surrealist body horror novel about a woman born with a twisted torso navigating a grotesque world. The novel was praised for its unflinching imagery and its exploration of female embodiment and pain. Etter studied at Drexel University and has worked as a journalist and editor. The Book of X was her debut novel. Her second novel Ripe (2023) is a satirical horror novel about the tech industry set in a grotesquely amplified version of San Francisco. She lives in the United States and continues to write fiction and journalism.
