Sarah Caudwell

Sarah Caudwell (born Sarah Cockburn) was a British barrister and author of witty detective novels featuring the enigmatic Hilary Tamar, born in 1939 in London to journalist parents Claud Cockburn and Jean Ross. She earned degrees from the University of Aberdeen and Oxford, practiced Chancery bar law specializing in tax and property, and later worked in international tax planning at Lloyds Bank while writing her acclaimed Hilary Tamar series. Notable works include Thus Was Adonis Murdered (1981), The Shortest Way to Hades (1985), The Sirens Sang of Murder (1989, Anthony Award winner), and The Sibyl in Her Grave (2000, posthumous).Sarah Caudwell
