Samantha Gillison (born 1967 in Melbourne, Australia) is an Australian-born American writer and journalist who retains Australian citizenship despite living overseas since age two, including time in Papua New Guinea. She is best known for her debut novel The Undiscovered Country (1998), set in Papua New Guinea, which earned her the 2000 Whiting Award, and her second novel The King of America (2004); she frequently contributes to Salon.com and Condé Nast Traveler.
